World Bathing Day

Water is one of the planet’s most abundant yet at the same time scarce resources – by 2025, more than half of the world’s population will be living in areas with limited water reserves. Currently, only one in nine people worldwide has access to clean water, and this number is expected to rise if no action is taken. The consequences of this are severe, as 1,000 children die daily from water-related diseases. Access to clean water would significantly reduce this number, not only as drinking sources but also for bathing purposes, which would see hygiene levels increase drastically.

Bathing has long been practiced as a social and multicultural, and is celebrated in many parts of the world as a pleasant experience that enhances overall quality of life. Particularly, hot springs bathing enjoys a good reputation, as several studies highlight the benefits the mineral-rich waters have on the physical state. Some of these include treatment of chronic diseases, increased blood circulation, soothing of skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, and even promotion of better sleep.

Considering the overall importance of water, GOCO Hospitality is supporting the designation of 22nd of June every year as World Bathing Day, which will be a celebration of health, cleansing and cultural traditions. This day will also raise awareness of the fact that a large proportion of the world’s population does not yet have access to clean water.

The petition will be brought before the United Nations, and as every signature counts, we would like to ask you to help too! Please sign the petition at www.bathetheworld.org. We also encourage you to share this important cause with others.

Thank you!
