CAPELLA SANYA: INSPIRED BY THE SILK ROUTE

Located in Sanya, on the popular tourist destination of Hainan Island, just off of China’s tropical southern coast, Capella Sanya is the most recent member of the Capella constellation. The resort – beautifully designed by the legendary resort designer Bill Bensley – features 190 rooms and villas, and is populated with lush gardens overlooking the South China Sea. The resort was inspired by stories of the historic maritime silk route, and aims to provide an environment of tranquil relaxation.

This is particularly so for the resort’s Auriga Spa, which is the perfect spot for peace and seclusion. In line with the history of the silk route, the spa presents a fusion of ancient eastern traditions with modern western therapies and beauty treatments. An authentic hammam and a revitalising snow cabin act as stunning centrepieces of spa. There are also six treatment rooms, two double suites and two VIP suites with plunge pools and steam rooms.

So that the spa was fully ready to welcome guests, GOCO Hospitality was invited to provide a range of pre-opening services, which included executive recruitment of the spa director, support in the development of the treatment menu, creation of SOPs and treatment protocols, and staff training, including set-up and simulations. An operational audit will also be carried out to ensure the maintenance of standards.

The spa’s Silk Route Experiences are a collection of spa rituals inspired by the maritime silk route, with regional wellness experiences sourced from the countries bordering the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea and Mediterranean Sea.

CAPELLA BANGKOK: ENERGISED BY THE CHAOPHRAYA RIVER

Opening this year, the Capella Bangkok sits on the storied banks of the meandering Chaophraya River, and will stand as an urban oasis of calm in this dynamic city. The property features 101 suites and villas, all with unobstructed river vistas.

GOCO Hospitality was engaged by Thailand’s Country Group Development to work on both Capella’s Auriga Spa as well the spa at the adjacent Four Seasons Bangkok.

GOCO Hospitality developed the initial concept and is providing design and technical services.

The spa displays a sophisticated pan-Asian design with darker tones and strong moods. Connecting it with the river, the dedicated foot treatment area overlooks the riverside courtyard garden. A yoga deck faces out to the river.

Spa facilities include large spa suites with whirlpools and gender-specific heat and water facilities, such as: heated loungers, saunas, steam rooms, vitality pools and an experience shower. There is also an oriental tea lounge and an adjacent high-tech gym.

The treatments will focus on traditional Asian healing, especially Thai – with the dedicated Thai massage treatment rooms. The spa will also offer results-oriented medi-facials.

CAPELLA MALDIVES: STYLISH RELAXATION IN PARADISE

Further along the pipeline is Capella Maldives, which is set to open in 2020. With stunning design by the renowned architect Kengo Kuma and interior designer André Fu, the resort will feature 64 villas and mansions, where guests can enjoy island life relaxing in paradise amidst the Indian Ocean.

GOCO Hospitality was hired to conduct market research and financial feasibility (through Horwath HTL Health and Wellness), develop a concept and provide technical design advice for the resort’s large circular spa.

We can’t wait to bring your more details on this in the near future.
